Bagan by eBike
I was a little scared, I must admit, to do what every other traveller seemed to be doing and hire an ebike to see Bagan. It just seemed like it was an accident waiting to happen. I mean, I am pretty clumsy, and if someone was going to lose it on the road, it was probably going to be me.
But after I found another slightly freaked out newbie like me, we decided to give it a go together. And it was absolutely worthwhile. The ebike (basically an electric scooter) is actually easier than it looks, and doesn’t go all that fast. Mind you, I still wore shoes instead of the standard flip-flops because I’d seen what had happened to another friend’s foot after a slight slip in the sand.
Exploring Bagan by ebike came with a complete freedom to roam the many dirt tracks in search of the smaller, unmarked pagodas. It really felt like an adventure of discovery.
