Mount Popa, just outside of Bagan in Myanmar, is definitely worth a day trip. There’s something about climbing 777 steps, in the dark, over monkey poop, that creates memories to last a lifetime.
I was a little daunted at the thought of spending most of my 5 month trip in dorm rooms. Actually, I was more than a bit daunted, I was flat out intimidated. I felt like a backpacker fraud. But my opinion and confidence soon changed once I realised it wasn’t what I’d expected.

Exploring Bagan by ebike came with a complete freedom to roam the many dirt tracks in search of the smaller, unmarked pagodas. It really felt like an adventure of discovery.
I think I fell in love with Myanmar’s ancient city Bagan the second the pre-dawn light started appearing on my first day.
A visit to Yangon, Myanmar is not complete without a ride on the Circular Train. The train takes 3 hours and slowly circumnavigates the city of Yangon. If you’re adventurous, hop off at Danyingon Station to explore the local markets.
